Abstract: Social entrepreneurship is an emerging trend in business. Social entrepreneurship combines innovation, creativity and opportunity in order to address some crucial and critical social and environmental challenges. It is an altruistic form of entrepreneurship that aims at providing certain benefits to the society. The concept of social entrepreneurship may be applied to number of organizations with different sizes, beliefs, goals and targets. Gaining a better understanding of how an issue relates to a society helps social entrepreneurs in developing innovative solutions and mobilizing all the available resources to affect the society at large. Social entrepreneurship focuses on maximizing gains in social satisfaction and empowering deprived communities and individuals. This paper is an attempt to understand the concept of Social entrepreneurship and highlight its role and importance in convalescing the social and business scenario in India.
